ny fashion week

Salut mes amies!

FASHION WEEK!!!

Ok, so maybe some of the fall 09 collections were not so exciting, and rather disappointing, but there were some that were absolutely fabulous!

What I liked about this fashion week: I loved how some of my favorite designers--Erin Fetherston, Marchesa...etc--didn't disappoint me at all. They just sort of improved on their past collections. Here are a few collections I actually did like.

Erin Fetherston was just as I expected, but better. Her fairy princess signature style was there, but with a darker twist to it. I loved it. Only thing that bothered me was that a few of the looks reminded me of the Miu Miu spring 2008 collection and the Luella fall 2008 collection. But since I love both of those collections and designers, I loved Erin Fetherston's fall 2009.

Marchesa was just pure elegance...as usual. :)

I loved the mixing of colors and patterns at Peter Som. And those neck-warmer furry things are just so cute!!! I would sooooo totally get them (if they were faux fur of course). What I loved the most was the bright, cheery mood of the collection.

Ok, who didn't like Marc Jacobs' collection? I am in love with that electric lemon velvet dress! And that zipper skirt...drooooooool, and that red top is driving me crazy, and those tights are making my knees go weak, and I love Lara Stone :)

What I didn't like: the overall somber, dull, depressing tones that were used. Why? Just because they are fall collections, doesn't mean they can't be fun and colorful...jeez. Oh, and some collections were just so boring. Nothing new. Same black blazers, defined shoulders, deep v-necks, slitted tees, rips, shreds, studs, etc.

What I was iffy-iffy about: Alexander Wang. I was disappointed with half of it, and liked the other half. But then again, that other half is similar to something Topshop came out with...apparently. So did he copy? And that same other half also had stuff I saw before...slitted leggings, tees...but I like them... And the asymmetrical dresses...drool. *Sigh* I don't know whether to like it or not.

Oh, and on Tuesday, my brother and I went outside to do a "photo shoot."

Coming up at the end of the week:

- London fashion week review
-wardrobe challenge
-Blair's drawing (hopefully) ...you'll see what it is
-and...randomness

take care everyone

toodles

p.s. all the photos in the collages are from style.com

p.p.s as usual you can click the photos to enlarge

p.p.p.s. Is anyone else watching the Oscars? Did anyone notice how STUNNING Penelope Cruz looked? I think I fell in love...with her gown...that vintage gown will haunt my dreams forever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever!!!!

Oh my, I shall post a pic as soon as it comes up on the internet.

Oh, and when the Slumdog Millionaire cast was getting interviewed on the red carpet, I was sooooo happy, and died when I saw Dev Patel (and heard his Brit accent...).... *swoooooooon*

The children were sooooo adorable. I wanted to just fly to the oscars (in my PJs) and give them all a hug... (even Dev Patel :P)

  14. Dang. I wish Poe was my secret lover. I guess I can settle with George Orwell. He's not quite as darkly handsome as Poe, though. Haha.

  20. O thank you for sharing the fashion week pictures. Marc Jacobs collection looks so different from his "normal" look - so colorful and not whimsical, retro, and romantic as I always picture him to be. The Marchesa and Alexander Wang collections look pretty amazing too...

  31. its soooo cool that u know Utada Hikaru!! she is awesome right?

i love Passion. its soooo...passionate. lol.

i also like the lyrics of Sanctuary though. I love the backwards english parts in both songs.

I'm sooooooo excited cuz her new album "This Is The One" is being released in the USA on march 14!!!! I CANNOT WAIT!

    xoxo

    ReplyDelete
  32. oh yes, i know that passion and sanctuary are the same. I just meant that when u translate the lyrics, the song meaning is a bit different. so i lurve the lyrics in both. Oh and the backwards english is in both...except for one part in passion, instead of the backwards english, she says something in japanese. At the part right before she says "My heart's a battle ground"

She is a genius! Passion is a work of art!

I also love the japanses version of simple and clean "Hikari". I memorized almost the whole thing. People find me quite strange when i walk around singing in Japanese. lol

and i know, cant wait!! have u heard her single off of the album "Come Back To Me" ?

u can hear the song and get all of the info on the album from her myspace:
    http://www.myspace.com/thisisutada

    and this website:
    http://www.utadanet.com/

Im a huge fan of her. I could seriously stalk her...hehe. lol

im sooooo glad we have alot in common!
