la jolla

Today, since we had off from school, my mom, my brother and I went to the mall, as little bro was wanting some skinny jeans from PacSun. He's becoming this skater/punk/basketball player wannabe, and it is adorable to watch him go frantic over clothes.
He is so sweet, but we butt heads ALL THE TIME. And then, mid punch, we just burst into hysterics, for no reason, and laugh and laugh and laugh till our stomachs ache, and our eyes tear up, and my mom comes in, just to make sure we are breathing.
Anyways, so we went to the mall, and I really liked the Boy Fit jeans at American Eagle, but I didn't get them. I came home empty handed, but I am not too upset because that means I can save up even more to go shopping with my friend "R" at H&M, as we both have gift cards waiting to be spent. Plus, I want to save up a bit more extra money to buy some jodhpurs/drop crotch pants at Zara, the newest member of my favorite stores list.
While we were at the mall, my brother wanted to go inside Hollister, and so I followed him. I sort of wanted to go too, not to buy clothes (I have WAYYY too many graphic t's from that place, and totally regret it...I don't really like wearing them now...but I try to incorporate them into outfits as stylishly as possible, trying to look as much unlike a mall chick as possible...) but just because the smell and the music is captivating. I could just sit in that store forever and ever and ever, sniffing at all the clothes.
Creep? Maybe...shhh
So while the brother and mother were looking for cali-style stuff, I was sniffing through the fragrances...and found "THE ONE(S)." La Jolla, SoCal, and Malaia were the most amazing fragrances ever! You must go to Hollister just to try them out, and you will understand...

Ok, that being said...

FASHION WEEK...!

Some of the collections were disappointing, as a lot of bloggers have already stated, but others were amazing :)

My sad excuses for collages are coming up at the end of the week!

I am so sorry this post was so boring, but I needed to put something up for the week, or else you would have to keep reading about V-day...

Well, I have a chem test to study for...how I hate the subject :(

toodles darlings

<3 lise

p.s. that outfit challenge hasn't been going too well, I got a lot of Audrey Hepburn challenges, but I haven't really started...so I guess that is going down the drain.

p.p.s I might do something similar to Amelia's challenge (<---click, then scroll to bottom of post) though...if that is ok with her...

will you be my valentine?

I had a lot of lurve to share today.

First and foremost, with my family, without whom I wouldn't be able to survive. I love you guys!

Secondly my friends, the worst, the best, and those with whom I have a shaky relationship with...they have all been my friends at some point, and so I love them too.

Third, to all my readers! I lurve you all dearly! Thanks for being so kind and supporting my blog till now.

A month ago, I went to the library and checked out a book called Blushing, and it is so cute! It is basically a compilation of love notes and poems and reading through them makes you...well...blush :)

Here is my favorite from the whole book, it is a love letter:

"Francis Darling,
Have you heard that I love you? I'm not sure that I made it clear to you, and I don't want any misunderstanding. It's such a young love yet -- just nine and a half months old, born November13th 1928 at about nine o'clock in the evening. [...] But tell me something before I leave. I was told tonight on what seemed to me the best authority that you are fond of me. Con you confirm this rumor.
Then there's another problem. As long as I'm thinking about you, I can't go to sleep; and I'd rather think about you than go to sleep; how am I to sleep?

[...] Good night. I've just sent St. Joseph off to watch you on the train; he has promised that he will do his duty like an honest saint.

I do love you.

Ogden"

Happy Valentine's Day!

So tell me what you did for V-Day!
I would love to hear all your stories :)

pilgrim shoes and jumps

Happy Friday the 13th!
Hopefully nobody had an unlucky day :)

Well, my dearies, today for a field trip we went to NYC to the Microsoft Corporation, but that is not the point. The point is, I finally wore something worth an outfit post! YAY!

Lately (midterm, examination season) I haven't been too creative with my outfits (hoodies, t-shirts, jeans, sneakers), so today I decided to wear something fun, and nice (^_^)

Please excuse my bad photography, but I had to take these in a hurry.

This will be a quick post...just outfit pics, only because I want to do something special for Valentine's Day tomorrow

p.s. thank you all my readers for commenting so much :)

p.p.s but would you also visit my other blog? I need feedback (look at the sidebar ------>

bad, lise! bad!

*cough* *cough* *COUGH* *COUGH*

I am so sorry my loverlies. I am terribly sick.

*ACHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!*

But first, I must thank all of my readers for being sho shweet and wishing me luck on my midterms...they all went very well except for the last two because I had a fever during those last two exams. My immune system is fairly strong, but the one time that it seems to lose a bit of its strength I pay the price. And when I get ill, my eyes start to water, and because of my stupidly teary eyes, I couldn't see the exam papers, and couldn't focus because I was coughing and sneezing, and blowing my nose so much, and not to mention the pounding headache, and my hand was shaking and...you get the picture.

So, other than that, thanks to your kind wishes, things were good :)

I send L<3ve to you all!!!!!

Anyways, because of my absence, I was unable to properly thank some very special people...

Loverly Jenna of Oh, Bother and sweet Indie Tea of Darjeeling Dreams tagged/awarded me with the

*drumroll*

AWARD!!!
yay!
Thank you so much!

Anyways, so I need to state 10 honest facts about myself ^_^ and then tag 7 bloggers...

So let us begin with the 10 honest facts things, shall we?

  1. This one could be considered *gasp*-worthy, or just, an *oh, i knew that* sorta thang, but i am going to tell you about it anyways...Sammi-Lise is not my real name. *CUE GASP* It is a pseudonym I came up with only because I didn't want to put my true name down at first. But, now it is too late to change it, and I sort of like it ^_^ I apologize to everyone who thought I really was a Sammi-Lise, but to make you feel better, it is not entirely a lie (~.~) Sammi is my nickname, and Lise is my French name, so...yea. No, my name is not Samantha, although that is a lovely name :)
  2. My neighbors don't like me because I am "too hyper."
    Their children told me so.
  3. I hate phonies. I probably mentioned that already in another post, but yea.
  4. I wish more people would read my other blog. I need the feedback. Take a look at the sidebar. ---------------------------------------------------------------->
  5. I *GASP...again* was considering not blogging ever again the other day. I have no idea why. Actually, I was probably going dillusional. I was ill. You can't blame me. And no, I am not leaving the blog world any time in the near future.
  6. I want sushi. NOW.
  7. I have taken the original one with the "snobby bloggers" out, because I felt it was too mean of me. I am sorry to anyone I already offended. I feel like a horrid person. I don't really think anyone is snobby, I was just feeling a little crabby when I posted that. The thing is, I usually expect something in response when I comment on people's blogs, and most people are kind enough to take the time to respond. And when people don't respond, I get a bit angry, and let down, but it only lasts for like a day, and then it is gone ^_^ I realize that some people may not have the time, or as The Clothes Horse put it, some people see their blog as "a site" and don't neessarily want to communicate with people. I totally understand now, thank you for the explanation Clothes Horse :) I feel like a better person. Anyways, I have a new fact: I suffer from the fear of losing everyone I love, and hold dear to my heart.
  8. I have been putting off making a package for two special people. I am sooo sooo sooooo sorry Cait and Emily! I shall send them to you ASAP! (maybe in a month or so? I need to get things organized first.)
  9. I have to admit that this tag is getting hard.
  10. I have a thing against online role-playing games. If you play them, don't take this personally, it is only my opinion, and there are loads of other people who love them. I am probably the odd one out.
Now to list 7 lucky bloggers who must get this award!

Enjoy!

I must go now....dance class. I feel like this post is incomplete, which it probably is, but I am too tired. I must go. BYE.

fun with poladroid

poladroid -- try it...it is SO much fun!

dear readers,
I shall see you in another two weeks. Midterms are coming up, and all of them are going to be KILLERS.
Keep commenting/emailing about the outfit challenge. Hopefully, by the time I return, the weather shall be nice enough to stop me from wearing three layers of clothing on the bottom, and five on top, and looking like an over sized Indian marshmallow, and let me wear something nice. Then I can actually focus on committing to the challenge, and hopefully come up with something you all like.
I will leave you with a few more photos.
Until then, toodles :)

I wish my bedroom was like that..

daisies

Yea, the title is pretty random, I was just looking at a tissue box on my desk, and it had daisies on it...
I decided to change the layout a bit...just a tad
I added my playlist, and I know it is in an awkward spot, but that is the only spot that it will show fully, without half of it being cut off.
Oh, and I changed the header, and the picture is from that one teen vogue feature thing, and it is practically my favorite feature out of all of them...they have had some good ones, but this is definitely one of the best. I guess my all time favorite is this one, it is just so lovely. I want to dress like that...maybe I will, for Valentine's Day. But then, that means I will be hypocrite for the day, since I am actually Anti VDay...hmmm

Oh, wait! I like this one too! The dresses are just so adorable! Especially the balloon tee. So cute.

Hang on, this fashion spread is not so bad either. No wait, I take that back, it has Ali Michael in it, and I don't like her too much. That is a really nice way to put it actually...but the clothes in that spread are divine!

Well, I found more on the website (hmmm I definitely have issues with picking favorites ^_^) and I think instead of just filling this post with links, maybe I should post the photos that I like the best.

I guess this holiday break is inspiring me to get inspired, and these fashion spreads are inspiring me at the moment...jeez I used inspire way too much in that sentence, but I am too lazy to think up another word to use.

I mean, am I expected to keep playing Guitar Hero World Tour (Christmas present...yes, I shall post all my gifts eventually... >.>) all break long?
Well, the answer is NO. So I decided to come up with a challenge. I am super inspired now (ha ha, I used it again ^_^) !!!! I decided...ready? Are you ready?

Ok, well, it isn't that exciting but I am going to challenge myself to pick an outfit from each of those collage things that I made, and create my interpretation of it. I don't know if I will do it over break though, now that I think of it. Maybe. I want to, since I love dressing up, but it all depends on the circumstances.

I shall leave you with these pictures of my nails. Look closely, I painted hearts onto them. Sorry about the bad photo quality. Oh, and another photo of the yummy cupcakes I baked for the holiday partay in English class.

*p.s. all photos can be enlarged by clicking on them, and all the fashion photos are from teenvogue.com (except for my drawing, cupcakes, and nails ^_^)*

super (with a french accent) post!!!!

I am back...with loads and loads and loads of stuff to stuff this post with. So much stuff that it shall be bursting at the seams when I am done.

Hmm...maybe I should devise a table of contents, or split it into parts, but I don't feel like it. So sorry if this incredibly long, photo heavy, super over ze top post makes you want to strangle moi.

Ok, so let us BEGIN! (I am doing this at school, and will probably finish this at school...maybe)

Let's start avec inspiration. This teen actress is one that I, personally, HATE. I hate her as Hermione, I hate her in that Ballet Shoes movie she came out with, and I hate that she is voicing for Princess Pea in the movie rendition of The Tale of Despereaux! I mean, ze insanity! But, I must say, I am a huge hypocrite for two reasons:
  1. I hate hypocrites, but I am one
  2. I love the way Emma Watson dresses! She practically oozes, style, elegence, and prettiness. Gosh! What I would do to have her wardrobe!

Have you ever seen her at premieres, fashion shows, partays, etc? Her clothing is so...PERFECT!

I wonder if she has a stylist, or if she does it all herself...hmmm...

Here are some examples of her flawlessness (although she can improve her makeup a bit, sometimes it comes off as chalky.)

(pictures from teenvogue.com)

WOW.

Anyways, that aside, let us move on to some more inspiration (which leads to my carpy photography): the weather.

Ok, so everyone knows that December has been crazy this year, with on and off temperatures, and on and off snow. Just recently, over the weekend, snow was falling down on the states like there was no limit. Knowing me, semi-cold, cloudy, gray weather is romantic and beautiful, and so I took a few pictures.

the outdoors:

the snow:

some coffee to warm the heart:
(Just so you know, the "FU" on the bracelet is part of the word "FUN," warning people before they get offended. I got it from a friend, who made it for me, and for some reason, the "N" didn't photograph...hmmm.)

more snow:

YAY!
Photography? Check!

So now we transition into my daily outfits...that would be a false statement though, as I am posting only a few outfits. I don't get time at all to take pictures, get them onto my computer and whatnot, but here are a few that I managed to get done:

This one, ha ha...funny story. This outfit, I agree, is completely outrageous, and would have people everywhere thinking "what the heck was that girl thinking???"
Well, I was thinking the same exact thing.

The story is, I woke up late that day, and didn't have enough time to plan out my outfit for the day. So what did I do? Oh yea, something every girl does in the morning, I bet. I opened my eyes to realize 2 things:

  • it was dark

  • it was 6:09 (wayyyy past my wake-up-time ---> I have to leave the house by 6:45, which means I need to finish brushing my teeth, taking a shower, pulling my clothes on, doing my hair (the classic poofy pony...I know, no creativity, but YOU try managing this mane of impossibilities), pinning my bangs back (which have the same, fantastic, poofability as the rest of my hair), moisturizing (cannot stand dry skin!), eating breakfast, drinking milk, wearing my shoes, and running out the door before 6:45. And mind you, this is no easy feat when you only have around 4- 5 hours of sleep every school night.
Therefore (wow, it sounds like I am writing an essay), I jump out of bed, grab two soft tops--a polka dotted green buttony thing, a gray floaty top--a pair of plaid shorts, a pair of stripey tights, and a pair of plaid-ish hi-tops with some velvet roses on it...and I did this all blindly, I couldn't see.

By the time I realized that my outfit would be a tad...different shall we say...it was too late. I was already in it. So I just run out of my house.

Well, I received a few awkward stares, a few "ugh" glances from the pathetically-styling-Uggs-and-proud-of-it clan, and even my close friends gave it an up and down stare. I was hurt...sort of. I mean, I received worse, but this was just harsh, you know? Well, all that depression ended in English.

My English Teacher: Hey, Lise, are you trying to make a statement today?
Me: Hmmm?
My English Teacher: You know, with all the polka dots, the stripes, and the plaid...they clash completely...and the colors too. Are you trying to prove something to the world?
Me: *laughs dramatically* Oh, that is so funny! No, I have nothing to prove. I didn't even realize...why do you ask?
My English Teacher: Er...I was just curious...I-I mean it isn't a bad outfit...just interesting.
Me: Yea...

This conversation just made me laugh.

Ok, enough talk, more pictures:

green top: aeropostale
gray top: heritage 1981
gray tank underneath gray top: kohls
plaid shorts: pacific sunwear
stripey tights: target
shoes: payless

Now that I look at it, the outfit doesn't look that outrageous...hmmm

This one is pretty drab, but I liked how the frilly tank thing went with the stripey cardigan. And, in these pictures, you get to see glimpses of my room (I painted the door to look like that...you will see the entire thing another day). Another post shall be dedicated to that...in the near future (jeez, my legs look super long in these!).

frilly tank thing: aeropostale
stripey cardigan: old navy
black pants: kohls(?)
stripey socks: target

In this next outfit, I wore two skirts...just to try it out. I got a few compliments on it...and my history teacher called my Stripes/Stripey for the whole day.

(do you see where the snippet from the last post was from???)
stripey sweater: kohls
purple ruffle skirt: express
pink skirt: from my childhood, but I think I got it at JC Penney
purple tights: Simply Vera by Vera Wang for kohls
legwarmers: hollister
silver flats: aeropostale

Well, tell me what you think of my outrageous taste, especially since it is my first post with an entire outfit in it. Usually I jsut post my legs, or my feet, or my hand, or my nose, ear, pinkie finger...you get the point.

I am actually writing this in school, in my Tech Drawing class...since it is the last day before the holidays, I am spending my time wisely during our free period to blog...so considerate of me, non?

Now the time has come to award some of my fellow bloggers...

These three fabby fab girls, the quirky Erin Meagan, the marvelous Daniella, and the very shweet Cait, were super cool and presented me with this award:

"This blog invests and believes in the PROXIMITY-nearness in space, time and relationships. These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement! Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers!Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this clever-written text into the body of their award."
THANK YOU, LOADS!
I, in turn shall award this to:

the music database Hazel
the wonderful Amelia
the sweet tea drinking english rose
the very quirky Emilie and Emily
the fantastic Gabby
the cute Demi

GREAT JOB EVERYONE!

Okay, so let me take out my checklist:
  • award -- CHECK
  • outfits -- CHECK
  • photography -- CHECK
  • music
  • runway
  • holiday wishes
The past few weeks, music has been my biggest influence, more than it has ever been. Music has always been a part of me, and it is something that I will never let go of ever...which is why I took up singing. I started taking classes ever since I was 4, but there were always these two-three year gaps between my lessons, and so I never truly pursued it as a child. But, just a few years ago, I realized that singing was a natural talent that I had, and something that I could always rely on...it has become my escape. To further educate myself with music, and broaden my views upon it, I began to listen to every type of music: Classic rock, rap, hip hop, country, pop, alternative, french pop, j-pop, classical, folk, Indian classical (which is something so beautiful, so powerful, so magical, it has been known to cure many ailments, and it is the genre of music that I learn and sing) electronic, techno, indie, and many others.

My favorite genres of the moment are folk, electronic, indie, alternative, french pop, classical and Indian classical.

So here is a mixtape through Mixwit (they are saying goodbye, and shutting down...boo hoo!) that I made of some of my favorite songs that I heard this year. These are only a few of my favorites, I have too many to put into one mixtape.

Mixwit make a mixtapeMixwit mixtapes

Oh, and since the website is closing down, some of you may not be able to view the mixtape, if you are too late in reading this. so here is the list of songs on my mixtape:
  1. arms -- seabear
  2. hello seattle -- owl city
  3. the adventure -- angels and airwaves
  4. sleepyhead -- passion pit
  5. water curses -- animal collective
  6. moi je joue -- brigitte bardot
  7. secret crowds -- angels and airwaves
Now for the runway part of the post. Okay, so I haven't really been much of a fashion blogger, but I have a lot of interest in the field, more than anyone else I know (personally, not in the blogosphere...). In fact, some people get really annoyed at me since that is all I ever talk about, and school. I am such a loser.

Well, here are some of my favorites from the pre-fall 2009 shows:
(photos taken from style.com)

Tell me what you think...I guess I just had a lot of favorites...

I was going to make collages of other collections, but I didn't think half of them were worth the time. Vera Wang and Badgley Mischka were quite disappointing, in my opinion...I just didn't find them too appealing.

Right now, it is 11:14 pm, December 24, 2008. Christmas is almost here! Presents!

I shall post some pictures of my presents and packages in another post, as I do not want to delay this any longer.

So have a very merry and jolly and happy holiday, and I hope that you have a fantastic new year as well!

Sadly, the super post has come to an end, and I might not post for another while...family and holiday and other stuff to take care of...but have loads of fun, and comment comment comment! I hope I covered everything!

*most pictures, if not all, can be enlarged by clicking on it...*

toodles!
