super (with a french accent) post!!!!

I am back...with loads and loads and loads of stuff to stuff this post with. So much stuff that it shall be bursting at the seams when I am done.

Hmm...maybe I should devise a table of contents, or split it into parts, but I don't feel like it. So sorry if this incredibly long, photo heavy, super over ze top post makes you want to strangle moi.

Ok, so let us BEGIN! (I am doing this at school, and will probably finish this at school...maybe)

Let's start avec inspiration. This teen actress is one that I, personally, HATE. I hate her as Hermione, I hate her in that Ballet Shoes movie she came out with, and I hate that she is voicing for Princess Pea in the movie rendition of The Tale of Despereaux! I mean, ze insanity! But, I must say, I am a huge hypocrite for two reasons:
  1. I hate hypocrites, but I am one
  2. I love the way Emma Watson dresses! She practically oozes, style, elegence, and prettiness. Gosh! What I would do to have her wardrobe!

Have you ever seen her at premieres, fashion shows, partays, etc? Her clothing is so...PERFECT!

I wonder if she has a stylist, or if she does it all herself...hmmm...

Here are some examples of her flawlessness (although she can improve her makeup a bit, sometimes it comes off as chalky.)

(pictures from teenvogue.com)

WOW.

Anyways, that aside, let us move on to some more inspiration (which leads to my carpy photography): the weather.

Ok, so everyone knows that December has been crazy this year, with on and off temperatures, and on and off snow. Just recently, over the weekend, snow was falling down on the states like there was no limit. Knowing me, semi-cold, cloudy, gray weather is romantic and beautiful, and so I took a few pictures.

the outdoors:

the snow:

some coffee to warm the heart:
(Just so you know, the "FU" on the bracelet is part of the word "FUN," warning people before they get offended. I got it from a friend, who made it for me, and for some reason, the "N" didn't photograph...hmmm.)

more snow:

YAY!
Photography? Check!

So now we transition into my daily outfits...that would be a false statement though, as I am posting only a few outfits. I don't get time at all to take pictures, get them onto my computer and whatnot, but here are a few that I managed to get done:

This one, ha ha...funny story. This outfit, I agree, is completely outrageous, and would have people everywhere thinking "what the heck was that girl thinking???"
Well, I was thinking the same exact thing.

The story is, I woke up late that day, and didn't have enough time to plan out my outfit for the day. So what did I do? Oh yea, something every girl does in the morning, I bet. I opened my eyes to realize 2 things:

  • it was dark

  • it was 6:09 (wayyyy past my wake-up-time ---> I have to leave the house by 6:45, which means I need to finish brushing my teeth, taking a shower, pulling my clothes on, doing my hair (the classic poofy pony...I know, no creativity, but YOU try managing this mane of impossibilities), pinning my bangs back (which have the same, fantastic, poofability as the rest of my hair), moisturizing (cannot stand dry skin!), eating breakfast, drinking milk, wearing my shoes, and running out the door before 6:45. And mind you, this is no easy feat when you only have around 4- 5 hours of sleep every school night.
Therefore (wow, it sounds like I am writing an essay), I jump out of bed, grab two soft tops--a polka dotted green buttony thing, a gray floaty top--a pair of plaid shorts, a pair of stripey tights, and a pair of plaid-ish hi-tops with some velvet roses on it...and I did this all blindly, I couldn't see.

By the time I realized that my outfit would be a tad...different shall we say...it was too late. I was already in it. So I just run out of my house.

Well, I received a few awkward stares, a few "ugh" glances from the pathetically-styling-Uggs-and-proud-of-it clan, and even my close friends gave it an up and down stare. I was hurt...sort of. I mean, I received worse, but this was just harsh, you know? Well, all that depression ended in English.

My English Teacher: Hey, Lise, are you trying to make a statement today?
Me: Hmmm?
My English Teacher: You know, with all the polka dots, the stripes, and the plaid...they clash completely...and the colors too. Are you trying to prove something to the world?
Me: *laughs dramatically* Oh, that is so funny! No, I have nothing to prove. I didn't even realize...why do you ask?
My English Teacher: Er...I was just curious...I-I mean it isn't a bad outfit...just interesting.
Me: Yea...

This conversation just made me laugh.

Ok, enough talk, more pictures:

green top: aeropostale
gray top: heritage 1981
gray tank underneath gray top: kohls
plaid shorts: pacific sunwear
stripey tights: target
shoes: payless

Now that I look at it, the outfit doesn't look that outrageous...hmmm

This one is pretty drab, but I liked how the frilly tank thing went with the stripey cardigan. And, in these pictures, you get to see glimpses of my room (I painted the door to look like that...you will see the entire thing another day). Another post shall be dedicated to that...in the near future (jeez, my legs look super long in these!).

frilly tank thing: aeropostale
stripey cardigan: old navy
black pants: kohls(?)
stripey socks: target

In this next outfit, I wore two skirts...just to try it out. I got a few compliments on it...and my history teacher called my Stripes/Stripey for the whole day.

(do you see where the snippet from the last post was from???)
stripey sweater: kohls
purple ruffle skirt: express
pink skirt: from my childhood, but I think I got it at JC Penney
purple tights: Simply Vera by Vera Wang for kohls
legwarmers: hollister
silver flats: aeropostale

Well, tell me what you think of my outrageous taste, especially since it is my first post with an entire outfit in it. Usually I jsut post my legs, or my feet, or my hand, or my nose, ear, pinkie finger...you get the point.

I am actually writing this in school, in my Tech Drawing class...since it is the last day before the holidays, I am spending my time wisely during our free period to blog...so considerate of me, non?

Now the time has come to award some of my fellow bloggers...

These three fabby fab girls, the quirky Erin Meagan, the marvelous Daniella, and the very shweet Cait, were super cool and presented me with this award:

"This blog invests and believes in the PROXIMITY-nearness in space, time and relationships. These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement! Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers!Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this clever-written text into the body of their award."
THANK YOU, LOADS!
I, in turn shall award this to:

the music database Hazel
the wonderful Amelia
the sweet tea drinking english rose
the very quirky Emilie and Emily
the fantastic Gabby
the cute Demi

GREAT JOB EVERYONE!

Okay, so let me take out my checklist:
  • award -- CHECK
  • outfits -- CHECK
  • photography -- CHECK
  • music
  • runway
  • holiday wishes
The past few weeks, music has been my biggest influence, more than it has ever been. Music has always been a part of me, and it is something that I will never let go of ever...which is why I took up singing. I started taking classes ever since I was 4, but there were always these two-three year gaps between my lessons, and so I never truly pursued it as a child. But, just a few years ago, I realized that singing was a natural talent that I had, and something that I could always rely on...it has become my escape. To further educate myself with music, and broaden my views upon it, I began to listen to every type of music: Classic rock, rap, hip hop, country, pop, alternative, french pop, j-pop, classical, folk, Indian classical (which is something so beautiful, so powerful, so magical, it has been known to cure many ailments, and it is the genre of music that I learn and sing) electronic, techno, indie, and many others.

My favorite genres of the moment are folk, electronic, indie, alternative, french pop, classical and Indian classical.

So here is a mixtape through Mixwit (they are saying goodbye, and shutting down...boo hoo!) that I made of some of my favorite songs that I heard this year. These are only a few of my favorites, I have too many to put into one mixtape.

Mixwit make a mixtapeMixwit mixtapes

Oh, and since the website is closing down, some of you may not be able to view the mixtape, if you are too late in reading this. so here is the list of songs on my mixtape:
  1. arms -- seabear
  2. hello seattle -- owl city
  3. the adventure -- angels and airwaves
  4. sleepyhead -- passion pit
  5. water curses -- animal collective
  6. moi je joue -- brigitte bardot
  7. secret crowds -- angels and airwaves
Now for the runway part of the post. Okay, so I haven't really been much of a fashion blogger, but I have a lot of interest in the field, more than anyone else I know (personally, not in the blogosphere...). In fact, some people get really annoyed at me since that is all I ever talk about, and school. I am such a loser.

Well, here are some of my favorites from the pre-fall 2009 shows:
(photos taken from style.com)

Tell me what you think...I guess I just had a lot of favorites...

I was going to make collages of other collections, but I didn't think half of them were worth the time. Vera Wang and Badgley Mischka were quite disappointing, in my opinion...I just didn't find them too appealing.

Right now, it is 11:14 pm, December 24, 2008. Christmas is almost here! Presents!

I shall post some pictures of my presents and packages in another post, as I do not want to delay this any longer.

So have a very merry and jolly and happy holiday, and I hope that you have a fantastic new year as well!

Sadly, the super post has come to an end, and I might not post for another while...family and holiday and other stuff to take care of...but have loads of fun, and comment comment comment! I hope I covered everything!

*most pictures, if not all, can be enlarged by clicking on it...*

toodles!

  7. Wow, this is quite a post! You hate Emma Watson. I really love her. Ah, well. Her style is awesome.

Haha, I love random, crazy, thrown-on-at-the-last-minute outfits. Supposedly, they show one's true style, but I find that extremely questionable.

I love your pre-fall picks. Yeah, I always save a lot of pictures on my computer--it's hard to pick favorites.

    Merry Christmas!

  14. Wow what an action-packed post!

I feel the same way about the Emma Watson - I don't care for her much at all but damn she's stylish. She has such a young face though it sometimes clashes with her outfits - she definitely needs a better make up artist.

The songs you chose are fantastic!
And I loved the snow pics - they look so dreamy!

The Chanel runway pics - they were definitely my favourite!

I think your stripy tights/socks are really cute!

And congrats on the award! Phew, I think that's everything hehe.

  16. What a wonderful blog (and post!) I'm glad I found you!!
    1) Emma Watson DOES have awesome style! I love love love the third picture of her. I'm not sure why, but I do.
    2) I've hated winter in Pennsylvania. There has been almost NO SNOW! That's the only thing that makes PA worth living in: SNOW DAYS! Your pictures of the weather where you live are quite beautiful. I like the one with the lamppost!
    3) That drink looks yummy. Oh, and I didn't even notice the "FU" bracelet until you mentioned it, haha
    4) Cute clothes! YESSS bringing back the legwarmers. I love legwarmers, but I'm never quite sure how to wear them. Hahhh I love your teacher. Funny =p
    5) OWL CITY LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE

    Happy almost New Year!! =]

I'm glad you realized I gave you an award, when I came to comment you this morning to let you know, it wouldn't let me comment you, I'm not sure why. Perhaps my computer was being stupid as usual.
In any case, you're welcome =]

  20. Totally agree with you on all things Emma Watson...

She is a terrible actress, BUT, yeah she dresses so well and is very very pretty. I'm jealous of her wardrobe and the fatc that shes a Chanel muse.

I can tell you that she does have a stylist! She started having one for goblet of Fire because everything was on such a huge scale.

    Still lucky..
